VOLCANIC ROCK

Description

Volcanic rock, a natural exfoliant derived from solidified lava, has gained prominence in skincare formulations for its unique properties. This finely ground material, primarily composed of basalt or pumice, offers gentle yet effective mechanical exfoliation without causing micro-tears in the skin.

The porous structure of volcanic rock particles allows them to absorb excess oils and impurities from the skin's surface, making it particularly beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin types. Its mineral-rich composition, including silica, iron, and magnesium, may provide trace nutrients to the skin during use.

In skincare products, volcanic rock is often incorporated into facial scrubs, body exfoliants, and cleansers. Its abrasive action helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve skin texture. The particle size can be adjusted during manufacturing to suit different skin sensitivities and product applications.

While volcanic rock offers effective exfoliation, it's important to use products containing this ingredient judiciously to avoid over-exfoliation. It's typically recommended for use 1-2 times per week, depending on skin type and product concentration. As with any exfoliant, it should be followed by appropriate moisturization to maintain skin barrier function.
