UNDECETH-10

Description

UNDECETH-10 is a nonionic surfactant and emulsifier widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This synthetic ingredient is derived from ethoxylated undecyl alcohol, with an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide. Its primary function is to reduce surface tension between oil and water phases, allowing for stable emulsions and improved product texture.

In skincare formulations, UNDECETH-10 acts as a mild cleansing agent and helps to solubilize oils and other hydrophobic ingredients. It contributes to the creation of gentle, low-foaming cleansers suitable for sensitive skin types. The ingredient also aids in the even distribution of active compounds throughout a product, enhancing overall efficacy.

UNDECETH-10 exhibits low skin irritation potential and is generally well-tolerated by most individuals. It helps to improve the spreadability of formulations and can enhance the skin feel of various products, including lotions, creams, and serums. Additionally, this ingredient may assist in the penetration of other beneficial compounds into the skin, potentially boosting their effectiveness.

While UNDECETH-10 is considered safe for cosmetic use, it's important to note that, like all ethoxylated ingredients, it may contain trace amounts of 1,4-dioxane as a by-product of the manufacturing process. Reputable manufacturers typically employ vacuum stripping to minimize this contaminant.
