Tranexamic acid is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine that has gained significant attention in the skincare industry for its skin-brightening and anti-inflammatory properties. Originally used in medicine to control excessive bleeding, this compound has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in treating various hyperpigmentation disorders, including melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and sun spots.

Tranexamic acid functions by inhibiting melanin synthesis through multiple mechanisms.
