Description

TIPA-Laureth Sulfate is a versatile surfactant commonly used in personal care and cosmetic products. This synthetic ingredient is derived from lauryl alcohol and ethylene oxide, with the addition of triisopropanolamine (TIPA) to enhance its properties. As an anionic surfactant, it effectively reduces surface tension between water and oils, making it an excellent cleansing agent.

In skincare formulations, TIPA-Laureth Sulfate functions as a primary foaming and cleansing agent. It creates a rich, stable lather that helps remove dirt, excess oils, and other impurities from the skin and hair. The TIPA component contributes to a milder formulation compared to traditional sodium laureth sulfate, potentially reducing irritation for sensitive skin types.

This ingredient also acts as an emulsifier, helping to blend oil and water-based components in various products. Its solubilizing properties make it useful in incorporating fragrances and essential oils into aqueous solutions. TIPA-Laureth Sulfate is biodegradable and typically used in concentrations ranging from 1% to 5% in finished products. While generally considered safe for use in rinse-off products, individuals with extremely sensitive skin may still experience minor irritation.
