TALL OIL ACID

Description

Tall oil acid is a complex mixture of organic compounds derived from the kraft pulping process of pine wood. This versatile ingredient is primarily composed of fatty acids, resin acids, and neutral components. The main fatty acids include oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids, while the predominant resin acids are abietic and dehydroabietic acids.

In skincare formulations, tall oil acid serves multiple purposes. It acts as an emollient, helping to soften and smooth the skin by forming a protective barrier that reduces moisture loss. The fatty acid content contributes to its moisturizing properties, while the resin acids offer potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits.
