STEARETH-27

Description

Steareth-27 is a versatile emulsifier and surfactant widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This synthetic ingredient is derived from stearyl alcohol and ethylene oxide, resulting in a non-ionic compound with excellent emulsifying properties. Steareth-27 has a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of approximately 16.8, making it particularly effective in stabilizing oil-in-water emulsions.

In skincare products, Steareth-27 functions as an emulsifying agent, helping to blend oil and water-based ingredients into a stable, homogeneous mixture. It also acts as a mild surfactant, contributing to the cleansing properties of formulations. The ingredient is known for its ability to create smooth, creamy textures in lotions, creams, and other cosmetic products.

Steareth-27 is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and is considered safe for use in cosmetics at concentrations up to 25%. Its non-ionic nature makes it less likely to cause irritation compared to some other surfactants. However, as with any cosmetic ingredient, individuals with sensitive skin or specific allergies should perform a patch test before regular use of products containing Steareth-27.
