Description

Sodium oleate is a versatile and widely used ingredient in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This sodium salt of oleic acid is derived from natural sources such as olive oil or tallow and functions as an emulsifier, surfactant, and cleansing agent. Its molecular structure consists of a hydrophilic carboxylate group and a hydrophobic hydrocarbon chain, allowing it to effectively bridge oil and water phases in products.

In skincare applications, sodium oleate helps create stable emulsions, enhancing the texture and consistency of creams and lotions. It also acts as a mild cleansing agent, assisting in the removal of dirt, oil, and other impurities from the skin without causing excessive dryness. The ingredient's emollient properties contribute to skin softening and improved hydration.
