SODIUM LAURYL SULFOACETATE

Description

Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) is a mild, sulfate-free surfactant widely used in personal care products and cosmetic formulations. This synthetic ingredient is derived from coconut and palm oils, offering an effective alternative to harsher sulfates like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).

SLSA functions as a foaming and cleansing agent, creating a rich lather while being gentler on the skin and hair. Its large molecular structure prevents deep penetration into the skin, reducing the potential for irritation. This makes it suitable for sensitive skin types and color-treated hair.

In skincare formulations, SLSA helps to remove dirt, oil, and other impurities without stripping the skin's natural oils. It maintains the skin's pH balance and leaves the surface feeling clean and refreshed. For haircare products, it provides thorough cleansing while being less likely to cause scalp irritation or hair damage.

SLSA is biodegradable and environmentally friendly. It's often found in facial cleansers, body washes, shampoos, and other personal care items marketed as "sulfate-free." While generally well-tolerated, individuals with extremely sensitive skin should still perform patch tests before regular use.
