Description

Sodium Coceth Sulfate is a widely used anionic surfactant in personal care products, particularly in cleansing formulations. This ingredient is derived from coconut oil and ethoxylated to increase its water solubility and mildness. As a sulfate-based surfactant, it effectively removes dirt, oil, and other impurities from the skin and hair.

The chemical structure of Sodium Coceth Sulfate consists of a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail, allowing it to interact with both water and oil-based substances. This property makes it an excellent foaming and cleansing agent. Compared to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Coceth Sulfate is generally considered gentler on the skin due to its larger molecule size and ethoxylation process.

It produces a rich, stable lather and helps to emulsify oils, making it effective for removing makeup and sunscreen.
