SALVIA SCLAREA SEED OIL

Description

Salvia sclarea seed oil, derived from the seeds of the clary sage plant (Salvia sclarea), is a valuable ingredient in skincare formulations. This pale yellow to golden oil boasts a rich composition of beneficial compounds, including linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, and oleic acid. These fatty acids contribute to the oil's emollient and skin-conditioning properties, making it effective for improving skin hydration and barrier function.

The oil's high content of sclareol, a diterpene alcohol, gives it potent anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These characteristics make Salvia sclarea seed oil particularly useful in addressing skin concerns such as acne, eczema, and general irritation. Additionally, the oil exhibits antioxidant activity, helping to protect the skin from free radical damage and potentially slowing signs of aging.

Salvia sclarea seed oil is known for its ability to regulate sebum production, making it suitable for both dry and oily skin types. Its light texture allows for easy absorption without leaving a greasy residue. The oil also possesses a mild, herbaceous aroma that can impart a pleasant scent to skincare formulations. When incorporated into products, it typically comprises 0.5% to 5% of the total formulation.
