Alcloxa

Description

Alcloxa, also known as aluminum chlorohydrex, is a synthetic aluminum compound widely used in antiperspirants and deodorants. This ingredient functions as an astringent and antimicrobial agent, effectively reducing perspiration and controlling body odor. Alcloxa works by forming a temporary gel plug within sweat ducts, limiting the flow of perspiration to the skin's surface.

The compound is composed of aluminum chloride hydroxide and propylene glycol, creating a stable complex that adheres well to the skin. Alcloxa is generally considered safe for topical use and is FDA-approved for over-the-counter antiperspirant products. Its efficacy in sweat reduction typically lasts 24 to 72 hours, depending on formulation and individual factors.

While highly effective, Alcloxa may cause skin irritation in some individuals, particularly those with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to aluminum-based compounds. It is important to note that concerns have been raised about long-term aluminum exposure, though current scientific consensus does not support a causal link between antiperspirant use and serious health issues. As with any skincare ingredient, patch testing is recommended before regular use, especially for those with sensitive skin or preexisting dermatological conditions.
