Wheat germ oil, derived from the nutrient-rich germ of the wheat kernel (Triticum vulgare), is a valuable ingredient in skincare formulations. This golden-hued oil is packed with essential fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid, which plays a crucial role in maintaining skin barrier function and hydration. It also contains high levels of vitamin E, a potent antioxidant that protects skin cells from oxidative stress and environmental damage.
The oil's composition includes squalene, which mimics the skin's natural sebum, making it easily absorbed and non-comedogenic for most skin types. Its emollient properties help to soften and smooth the skin's surface, reducing the appearance of fine lines and improving overall texture.
