SULFONATED KERATIN

Description

Sulfonated keratin is an innovative ingredient derived from natural keratin proteins, typically sourced from wool or hair. Through a chemical process called sulfonation, the keratin's structure is modified, enhancing its water solubility and functional properties. This transformation allows the protein to penetrate the skin and hair more effectively, offering improved moisturizing and conditioning benefits.

In skincare formulations, sulfonated keratin acts as a potent humectant and emollient. It helps to attract and retain moisture within the skin, promoting hydration and improving skin elasticity. The ingredient's ability to form a protective film on the skin's surface aids in reducing transepidermal water loss, further supporting skin barrier function.

For hair care applications, sulfonated keratin can help repair damaged hair structures by filling in gaps in the hair cuticle. This process can lead to increased hair strength, improved shine, and enhanced manageability. The ingredient's film-forming properties also provide a protective layer against environmental stressors and heat styling damage.

Sulfonated keratin is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and can be particularly beneficial for dry, damaged, or aging skin and hair.
