Description

Steareth-5 is a versatile synthetic emulsifier and surfactant commonly used in skincare and personal care formulations. Derived from stearyl alcohol and ethylene oxide, this nonionic compound serves multiple functions in product development. Its primary role is to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions, ensuring a smooth and consistent texture in creams, lotions, and other cosmetic preparations.

With a low HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value of approximately 9.6, Steareth-5 excels at creating light, non-greasy formulations that are easily absorbed by the skin. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for leave-on products and facial moisturizers. Additionally, Steareth-5 acts as a mild surfactant, aiding in the cleansing process without causing excessive dryness or irritation.
