STEARETH-1

Description

Steareth-1 is a versatile emulsifier and surfactant commonly used in skincare and haircare formulations. This synthetic ingredient is derived from ethoxylated stearyl alcohol, combining the properties of both fatty alcohols and ethylene oxide. Steareth-1 has a low HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value, making it particularly effective in creating stable water-in-oil emulsions.

In skincare products, Steareth-1 helps to blend oil and water-based ingredients, ensuring a smooth and uniform consistency. It also acts as a thickening agent, contributing to the desired texture of creams and lotions. Due to its mild nature, Steareth-1 is suitable for use in formulations intended for sensitive skin types.

In haircare applications, Steareth-1 functions as a conditioning agent, helping to improve the manageability and feel of hair. It can also aid in the even distribution of other active ingredients throughout the product.

While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics, some individuals may experience sensitivity to ethoxylated ingredients. As with any skincare or haircare ingredient, patch testing is recommended before widespread use, especially for those with known sensitivities or allergies.
