Description

Quaternium-91 is a quaternary ammonium compound widely used in haircare formulations, particularly in conditioners and leave-in treatments. This cationic surfactant functions as an effective conditioning agent, providing superior detangling and smoothing properties to hair strands. Its molecular structure allows it to adhere to the hair shaft, creating a protective film that enhances manageability and reduces static electricity.

In haircare products, Quaternium-91 is often combined with other conditioning agents like cetearyl alcohol and behentrimonium chloride to create synergistic effects. It is especially beneficial for damaged or chemically treated hair, as it helps to seal the cuticle and improve overall hair texture. The ingredient's positive charge enables it to neutralize the negative charge of hair proteins, resulting in reduced frizz and improved combability.
