Description

Quaternium-80 is a multifunctional quaternary ammonium compound widely used in hair care and skincare formulations. This cationic surfactant serves as an effective conditioning agent, antistatic additive, and preservative booster. Its chemical structure consists of a long-chain alkyl group attached to a positively charged nitrogen atom, allowing it to interact with negatively charged surfaces like hair and skin.

In hair care products, Quaternium-80 imparts smoothness, softness, and manageability to hair strands by forming a thin, protective film. It reduces static electricity and improves wet and dry combing properties. For skincare applications, it acts as an emollient and helps to enhance the spreadability of formulations.

Quaternium-80 exhibits mild antimicrobial properties, contributing to the preservation of cosmetic products. It synergizes with other preservatives, potentially allowing for reduced concentrations of traditional preservatives.
