PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene, is a synthetic fluoropolymer widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This versatile ingredient is prized for its unique properties, including exceptional water resistance, low friction coefficient, and chemical inertness. In skincare applications, PTFE functions primarily as a texture enhancer and emollient, providing a smooth, silky feel to products while improving their spreadability.

The hydrophobic nature of PTFE makes it an effective barrier ingredient, helping to protect the skin from moisture loss and environmental stressors.
