PPG-26

Description

PPG-26, also known as Polypropylene Glycol-26, is a synthetic polymer widely used in skincare and personal care products as a skin conditioning agent and emollient. This versatile ingredient belongs to the family of propylene glycol polymers and is characterized by its ability to attract and retain moisture, making it an effective humectant.

In skincare formulations, PPG-26 functions as a texture enhancer, improving the spreadability and feel of products on the skin. It forms a non-occlusive barrier that helps reduce transepidermal water loss, contributing to improved skin hydration. The ingredient's low molecular weight allows for easy absorption, preventing a greasy or heavy sensation often associated with some moisturizing agents.

PPG-26 also serves as a solvent, helping to dissolve and disperse other ingredients within a formulation. This property makes it useful in creating stable emulsions and suspensions. Additionally, it can act as a viscosity controller, aiding in the development of products with desired consistency and flow characteristics.

While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics, individuals with sensitive skin should perform patch tests before incorporating products containing PPG-26 into their skincare routine.
