Description

Polysorbate 65 is a versatile emulsifier and surfactant widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This synthetic compound is derived from sorbitol and oleic acid, resulting in a nonionic surfactant with excellent emulsifying properties. Its primary function is to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions, allowing for the seamless blending of oil-based and water-based ingredients in various skincare products.

With a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of approximately 10.5, Polysorbate 65 effectively reduces surface tension between immiscible liquids, creating stable and homogeneous formulations. It is particularly useful in creams, lotions, and serums, where it helps maintain product consistency and prevents separation of ingredients over time.

Polysorbate 65 also acts as a solubilizer, enabling the incorporation of fragrances and essential oils into water-based products. Its mild nature makes it suitable for sensitive skin formulations, and it is generally well-tolerated by most individuals.
