Description

Polydiethyleneglycol adipate/IPDI copolymer is a synthetic polymer used in various skincare and cosmetic formulations. This ingredient is primarily employed as a film-forming agent and emollient, contributing to the texture and feel of products while providing skin-conditioning benefits.

The copolymer is formed by the reaction of polydiethyleneglycol adipate with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI). This combination results in a flexible, water-resistant polymer with excellent adhesion properties. In skincare applications, it creates a protective barrier on the skin's surface, helping to lock in moisture and shield against environmental stressors.

Its film-forming capabilities make it particularly useful in long-wearing makeup formulations, sunscreens, and other products requiring extended durability. The copolymer also enhances the spreadability of formulations, allowing for smooth and even application.

While generally considered safe for topical use, individuals with sensitive skin or those prone to allergies should perform patch tests before regular use.
