POLOXAMER 335

Description

Poloxamer 335 is a versatile synthetic copolymer widely used in skincare and personal care formulations. This non-ionic surfactant belongs to the family of poloxamers, also known as Pluronics. Its unique structure consists of a central hydrophobic block of polypropylene oxide flanked by two hydrophilic blocks of polyethylene oxide.

In skincare applications, Poloxamer 335 functions as an emulsifier, solubilizer, and stabilizer. It helps create stable emulsions by reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases, ensuring a smooth and consistent product texture. This ingredient also enhances the solubility of active ingredients, improving their distribution and efficacy within formulations.

Poloxamer 335 exhibits excellent spreading properties, which contributes to improved product application and skin feel. It can form temperature-responsive gels, making it useful in products that require controlled release of active ingredients. Additionally, this polymer has been shown to enhance the penetration of certain ingredients through the skin barrier, potentially increasing their effectiveness.

While generally considered safe for topical use, formulators should be mindful of potential skin sensitization in some individuals when using higher concentrations.
