POLOXAMER 282

Description

Poloxamer 282, also known as Pluronic F87, is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This synthetic copolymer consists of polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polypropylene oxide (PPO) blocks arranged in a triblock structure: PEO-PPO-PEO. Its unique molecular arrangement allows Poloxamer 282 to function as an effective solubilizer and stabilizer in various cosmetic products.

In skincare formulations, Poloxamer 282 serves multiple purposes. It acts as an emulsifier, helping to blend oil and water-based ingredients, creating stable emulsions. This property is particularly useful in creating smooth, consistent textures in creams and lotions. Additionally, it functions as a surfactant, reducing surface tension and enhancing the spreading and wetting properties of formulations. Poloxamer 282 also exhibits thermo-reversible gelation, meaning it can form gels at higher temperatures and return to a liquid state when cooled. This characteristic makes it valuable in developing temperature-responsive skincare products.
