POLOXAMER 235

Description

Poloxamer 235 is a versatile synthetic copolymer belonging to the poloxamer family, widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This non-ionic surfactant consists of polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polypropylene oxide (PPO) blocks arranged in a triblock structure (PEO-PPO-PEO). Its unique molecular architecture grants Poloxamer 235 excellent solubilizing and emulsifying properties, making it valuable in various skincare applications.

In skincare products, Poloxamer 235 functions as a thickening agent, emulsion stabilizer, and texture enhancer. It helps create smooth, uniform formulations and improves the spreadability of creams and lotions. This ingredient also aids in the solubilization of poorly water-soluble active ingredients, enhancing their bioavailability and efficacy.

Poloxamer 235 exhibits low toxicity and minimal skin irritation potential, making it suitable for use in sensitive skin formulations. Its film-forming properties contribute to improved moisture retention in the skin, potentially enhancing hydration. Additionally, this copolymer can act as a mild cleansing agent, helping to remove dirt and oil without overly stripping the skin's natural oils.
