POLOXAMER 122

Description

Poloxamer 122 is a versatile synthetic copolymer widely used in skincare and personal care formulations. This non-ionic surfactant belongs to the family of poloxamers, also known as Pluronics. Its unique structure consists of a central hydrophobic block of polypropylene oxide flanked by two hydrophilic blocks of polyethylene oxide.

In skincare applications, Poloxamer 122 functions as an emulsifier, solubilizer, and stabilizer. It helps create stable emulsions by reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases, ensuring uniform product consistency. This ingredient also enhances the solubility of poorly water-soluble active ingredients, improving their bioavailability and efficacy.

Poloxamer 122 exhibits excellent spreading properties, contributing to improved product texture and skin feel. It forms a thin, breathable film on the skin, which can aid in moisture retention and provide a smooth, non-greasy finish. Additionally, this polymer demonstrates mild cleansing abilities, making it suitable for use in gentle cleansing formulations.

Due to its low toxicity and skin-friendly nature, Poloxamer 122 is well-tolerated by most skin types, including sensitive skin. It is commonly incorporated into various skincare products such as cleansers, lotions, creams, and serums.
