POLOXAMER 108
Description
Poloxamer 108, also known as Pluronic F38, is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier widely used in skincare and personal care formulations. This synthetic copolymer consists of polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polypropylene oxide (PPO) blocks arranged in a triblock structure (PEO-PPO-PEO). Poloxamer 108 exhibits excellent solubilizing properties and functions as a versatile stabilizer in various cosmetic products.
In skincare formulations, Poloxamer 108 acts as an effective emulsifier, helping to create stable oil-in-water emulsions. It enhances the spreadability of creams and lotions, improving their texture and skin feel. This ingredient also aids in the dispersion of active ingredients, potentially increasing their efficacy. Poloxamer 108 demonstrates low toxicity and skin irritation potential, making it suitable for use in sensitive skin formulations.
Additionally, Poloxamer 108 possesses mild cleansing properties and can be incorporated into gentle facial cleansers and micellar waters. Its ability to form micelles allows for effective removal of dirt and oil without disrupting the skin's natural barrier. This characteristic makes it particularly beneficial in formulations designed for daily use or for individuals with delicate skin.
