POLOXAMER 101

Description

Poloxamer 101 is a versatile synthetic copolymer widely used in skincare and personal care formulations. This non-ionic surfactant belongs to the family of poloxamers, which are block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide. Poloxamer 101 is characterized by its low molecular weight and relatively low hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value.

In skincare applications, Poloxamer 101 functions primarily as an emulsifier and solubilizer. It helps stabilize oil-in-water emulsions, enhancing the overall texture and consistency of products. Its ability to form micelles allows for improved dispersion of active ingredients, potentially increasing their bioavailability and efficacy.

Poloxamer 101 also exhibits mild cleansing properties, making it suitable for use in gentle facial cleansers and makeup removers. Its low foaming nature contributes to a luxurious, non-stripping cleansing experience. Additionally, this ingredient can act as a thickening agent in aqueous formulations, helping to achieve desired viscosities in various skincare products.

When used in appropriate concentrations, Poloxamer 101 is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and is considered safe for use in cosmetic formulations.
