PLECTRANTHUS AMBOINICUS LEAF/STEM OIL

Description

Plectranthus amboinicus leaf/stem oil is derived from the Indian borage plant, also known as Mexican mint or Cuban oregano. This aromatic plant, native to Southern and Eastern Africa, has been traditionally used in folk medicine for its therapeutic properties. The oil extracted from its leaves and stems contains a rich array of bioactive compounds, including carvacrol, thymol, and β-caryophyllene.

In skincare and haircare formulations, Plectranthus amboinicus leaf/stem oil exhibits potent antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. These attributes make it particularly beneficial for addressing various skin and scalp concerns. The oil's antimicrobial action helps combat acne-causing bacteria and fungal infections, while its anti-inflammatory effects can soothe irritated skin and reduce redness.

The antioxidant compounds in the oil protect against free radical damage, potentially slowing the signs of aging. For haircare, the oil may help stimulate hair growth, strengthen hair follicles, and improve overall scalp health. Its natural fragrance also imparts a pleasant aroma to products. However, as with any essential oil, it should be used in appropriate concentrations to avoid skin sensitization or irritation.
