PIGMENT BLUE 27

Description

Pigment Blue 27, also known as Prussian Blue or Ferric Ferrocyanide, is a synthetic inorganic pigment widely used in cosmetic and skincare formulations. This deep blue colorant is prized for its intense hue and excellent stability across a wide pH range. Its chemical composition consists of iron(III) hexacyanoferrate(II), giving it unique optical properties.

In skincare applications, Pigment Blue 27 serves primarily as a color additive, imparting a rich blue shade to various products such as eye shadows, eyeliners, and other decorative cosmetics. Its fine particle size allows for smooth application and even color distribution. This pigment demonstrates good light fastness, resisting fading when exposed to UV radiation, which contributes to the longevity of cosmetic products.

Safety assessments have shown Pigment Blue 27 to be non-toxic and non-irritating when used in cosmetic formulations at appropriate concentrations. It is approved by regulatory bodies, including the FDA and EU Commission, for use in cosmetics and personal care products. However, it is not recommended for use in products applied to the lip area due to potential ingestion concerns.
