PHENYLACETALDEHYDE OXIME

Description

Phenylacetaldehyde oxime is a specialized compound utilized in advanced haircare formulations, particularly in products designed to address hair loss and promote follicular health. This synthetic ingredient acts as a potent 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, a key enzyme involved in the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By inhibiting this process, phenylacetaldehyde oxime helps mitigate DHT-related hair thinning and loss.

In haircare products, it is typically incorporated at concentrations ranging from 0.1% to 1%. Its molecular structure allows for efficient penetration into the scalp, where it exerts its effects directly on hair follicles. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in increasing hair density and thickness when used consistently over a period of 3-6 months.

Phenylacetaldehyde oxime also exhibits antioxidant properties, offering protection against free radical damage to hair and scalp cells. It is generally well-tolerated, with minimal risk of irritation or adverse reactions. However, as with any active ingredient, patch testing is recommended before widespread use. This compound is often combined with other hair growth-promoting ingredients such as minoxidil or peptides for synergistic effects in comprehensive hair restoration formulations.
