PENTAPEPTIDE-55

Description

Pentapeptide-55 is an innovative synthetic peptide designed for advanced haircare formulations. This small protein fragment consists of five specific amino acids strategically sequenced to target hair follicle function and promote hair growth. Its primary mechanism of action involves mimicking natural growth factors that stimulate hair follicle cells, potentially increasing the duration of the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle.

In vitro studies have demonstrated that Pentapeptide-55 can enhance the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which play a crucial role in hair follicle development and cycling. It may also improve the anchoring of hair to the scalp by strengthening the extracellular matrix around the follicle. Additionally, this peptide has shown potential in increasing the expression of keratins and other structural proteins essential for hair shaft formation.

Typically incorporated into leave-on treatments such as serums, lotions, or scalp treatments, Pentapeptide-55 is often used at concentrations between 1-5%. Its small molecular size allows for better penetration into the scalp, potentially enhancing its efficacy. While promising, more extensive clinical studies are needed to fully validate its long-term effects on hair growth and density in various hair loss conditions.
