PEI-275
Description
PEI-275, also known as Polyethylenimine-275, is a versatile synthetic polymer used in various haircare formulations. This high-molecular-weight compound functions primarily as a film-forming agent and conditioning polymer, offering unique benefits to hair products.
PEI-275 forms a protective film on the hair shaft, helping to reduce frizz and improve manageability. Its cationic nature allows it to adhere effectively to the negatively charged hair surface, providing long-lasting conditioning effects. The ingredient is particularly effective in leave-in treatments and styling products due to its ability to enhance hair texture and provide a smooth feel.
In addition to its conditioning properties, PEI-275 acts as a humidity resistor, helping to maintain hairstyles in various environmental conditions. It also exhibits some degree of heat protection, making it valuable in thermal styling products. The polymer's film-forming capabilities can contribute to increased hair volume and body.
While PEI-275 is generally well-tolerated, it may not be suitable for those with very fine or oily hair types, as it can potentially weigh down the hair or contribute to buildup over time.
