Description

PEI-1500, or Polyethylenimine 1500, is a versatile polymer with significant applications in haircare formulations. This high molecular weight compound is characterized by its cationic nature, which allows it to form strong electrostatic interactions with negatively charged hair surfaces. PEI-1500 functions as an effective conditioning agent, providing improved manageability, reduced static, and enhanced smoothness to hair strands.

The polymer's structure consists of repeating ethylenimine units, creating a branched network that can effectively coat hair fibers. This coating action helps to fill in damaged areas of the hair cuticle, resulting in a smoother appearance and increased shine. PEI-1500 also demonstrates excellent substantivity, allowing it to remain on the hair even after rinsing, providing long-lasting conditioning effects.

In haircare products, PEI-1500 is often used in shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments.
