PEI-14M

Description

PEI-14M, also known as Polyethylenimine-14 Methylene, is a synthetic polymer utilized in various haircare formulations. This multifunctional ingredient acts as a film-forming agent, conditioning polymer, and static control agent. Its cationic nature allows it to adhere effectively to hair fibers, providing a protective coating that enhances manageability and reduces frizz.

In haircare products, PEI-14M is particularly valued for its ability to improve wet and dry combing, increase hair body, and enhance style retention. It forms a thin, flexible film on the hair shaft, which helps to smooth the cuticle and reduce mechanical damage from styling. This ingredient is especially beneficial for damaged or chemically treated hair, as it can temporarily seal split ends and improve overall hair appearance.

PEI-14M is typically used in leave-in conditioners, styling products, and hair treatments. Its concentration in formulations generally ranges from 0.1% to 3%, depending on the desired effect and product type. While effective, it's important to note that PEI-14M may cause buildup over time, necessitating periodic clarifying treatments for optimal hair health.
