PEG-8 ALLYL ETHER

Description

PEG-8 Allyl Ether is a versatile synthetic ingredient commonly used in skincare and haircare formulations. This compound is derived from polyethylene glycol (PEG) and allyl alcohol, resulting in a water-soluble, clear liquid with excellent spreading properties. As a surfactant and emulsifier, PEG-8 Allyl Ether helps to stabilize formulations by reducing surface tension between oil and water phases.

In skincare products, PEG-8 Allyl Ether functions as a penetration enhancer, facilitating the absorption of active ingredients into the skin. It also acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture to help maintain skin hydration. This ingredient is particularly useful in leave-on products such as serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens.

In haircare formulations, PEG-8 Allyl Ether serves as a conditioning agent, improving hair manageability and reducing static electricity. It can enhance the performance of other ingredients in shampoos, conditioners, and styling products. Due to its low molecular weight, it doesn't weigh down hair or leave a heavy residue.

While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics, individuals with sensitive skin should perform a patch test before using products containing PEG-8 Allyl Ether.
