Description

PEG-7 is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This synthetic, water-soluble compound functions primarily as an emollient, solvent, and viscosity-controlling agent. With a molecular weight of approximately 300 Daltons, PEG-7 exhibits excellent moisture-binding properties, helping to improve product texture and enhance skin hydration.

In skincare formulations, PEG-7 acts as a penetration enhancer, facilitating the absorption of other active ingredients. It also serves as an effective dispersing agent for pigments and fragrances, ensuring uniform distribution throughout the product. The ingredient's low molecular weight allows it to penetrate the stratum corneum, contributing to its efficacy in delivering moisture to deeper skin layers.

PEG-7 is generally considered safe for topical use, with a low risk of skin irritation. However, individuals with sensitive skin should perform patch tests before regular use.
