PEG-200 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL/IPDI COPOLYMER
Description
PEG-200 Hydrogenated Castor Oil/IPDI Copolymer is a multifunctional ingredient used in haircare formulations. This synthetic polymer is derived from the reaction of hydrogenated castor oil with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI). Its unique structure combines the emollient properties of castor oil with the film-forming capabilities of a polyurethane.
In haircare products, this copolymer acts as a conditioning agent, improving the manageability and feel of hair. It forms a lightweight, flexible film on the hair shaft, which helps to reduce frizz and enhance shine without causing buildup. The ingredient also provides excellent humidity resistance, making it valuable in anti-frizz formulations.
PEG-200 Hydrogenated Castor Oil/IPDI Copolymer is particularly effective in leave-in conditioners, serums, and styling products. It offers good compatibility with a wide range of other cosmetic ingredients and is stable across various pH levels. The copolymer's water-dispersible nature allows for easy incorporation into aqueous-based formulations while maintaining its performance benefits.
This ingredient is generally well-tolerated and suitable for various hair types. However, as with any cosmetic ingredient, patch testing is recommended for individuals with sensitive scalps or known allergies.
