PEG-100/IPDI COPOLYMER

Description

PEG-100/IPDI Copolymer is a synthetic ingredient used in skincare and cosmetic formulations as a film-forming agent and viscosity controller. This copolymer is created by combining polyethylene glycol (PEG-100) with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), resulting in a unique polymer structure with both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties.

The ingredient functions primarily as a thickening agent, enhancing the texture and stability of various skincare products. It helps create a smooth, even application and can improve the spreadability of formulations. PEG-100/IPDI Copolymer also acts as an emulsion stabilizer, helping to prevent separation of oil and water components in creams and lotions.

In addition to its texturizing properties, this copolymer forms a flexible film on the skin's surface, which can provide a temporary smoothing effect and help retain moisture. This film-forming ability makes it useful in products designed to provide a barrier function or to enhance the longevity of other active ingredients.

While generally considered safe for topical use, individuals with sensitive skin should perform a patch test before using products containing PEG-100/IPDI Copolymer, as with any new skincare ingredient.
