P-Methylaminophenol, also known as N-methyl-p-aminophenol or Metol, is a potent reducing agent commonly used in hair dye formulations. This organic compound belongs to the family of aminophenols and plays a crucial role in the oxidative hair coloring process. Its chemical structure allows it to act as a color developer when combined with oxidizing agents like hydrogen peroxide.
