P-chloro-m-cresol, also known as 4-chloro-3-methylphenol or PCMC, is a synthetic organic compound widely used in skincare and personal care products as a preservative and antimicrobial agent. This white crystalline solid is characterized by its strong, medicinal odor and is soluble in various organic solvents and slightly soluble in water.

The compound exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and yeasts, making it effective in preventing product contamination and extending shelf life.
