OLIVAMIDE DEA

Description

Olivamide DEA, also known as Oleamide DEA or Diethanolamide of Olive Oil Fatty Acids, is a multifunctional ingredient commonly used in skincare and haircare formulations. This amber-colored liquid is derived from olive oil and diethanolamine, combining the nourishing properties of olive oil with the surfactant capabilities of DEA.

As an emulsifier and thickening agent, Olivamide DEA helps stabilize formulations by creating a smooth, uniform consistency. It also acts as a foam booster, enhancing the lathering properties of cleansing products. In skincare, it contributes to the creamy texture of lotions and creams while providing mild cleansing properties.

Olivamide DEA exhibits moisturizing qualities, helping to prevent dryness in both skin and hair care products. It can improve the softness and manageability of hair in shampoos and conditioners. However, it's important to note that some concerns have been raised regarding the potential formation of nitrosamines from DEA-based ingredients. As a result, formulators should consider using it in conjunction with nitrosamine-inhibiting agents or explore alternative ingredients in sensitive formulations.
