OLETH-23

Description

OLETH-23 is a synthetic ethoxylated fatty alcohol derived from oleyl alcohol. It functions primarily as an emulsifier and surfactant in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This ingredient helps to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions, allowing for the creation of creams and lotions with a smooth, uniform texture.

OLETH-23 has a high HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value, making it particularly effective at dispersing oils and other lipophilic substances in aqueous solutions. This property enables it to enhance the solubility of various active ingredients, potentially improving their efficacy in skincare products.

In addition to its emulsifying capabilities, OLETH-23 acts as a mild cleansing agent and can contribute to the foaming properties of cleansers and shampoos. It also exhibits some moisturizing effects, helping to improve skin hydration and softness.

While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics, individuals with sensitive skin should be aware that ethoxylated ingredients like OLETH-23 can sometimes cause irritation in certain formulations. As with any skincare ingredient, patch testing is recommended for those with known sensitivities or allergies.
