OLETH-20

Description

OLETH-20 is a versatile synthetic emulsifier and surfactant widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This nonionic compound is derived from ethoxylated oleyl alcohol, with an average of 20 ethylene oxide units per molecule. Its chemical structure grants it excellent solubilizing properties, making it effective in creating stable emulsions and enhancing the miscibility of oil and water-based ingredients.

In skincare products, OLETH-20 functions as an emollient and helps improve the texture and spreadability of formulations. It assists in the even distribution of active ingredients throughout the product, ensuring consistent efficacy. The ingredient also acts as a mild cleansing agent, helping to remove dirt and oil from the skin without causing excessive dryness.

OLETH-20 is particularly valuable in formulations requiring the incorporation of fragrances, essential oils, or other oil-soluble components into water-based systems. Its low irritation potential makes it suitable for use in a wide range of products, including those designed for sensitive skin. However, as with any cosmetic ingredient, individual sensitivities may vary, and patch testing is recommended for those with known skin reactions.
