Description

Oleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid naturally occurring in various animal and vegetable fats and oils. It is particularly abundant in olive oil, comprising up to 83% of its composition. This long-chain fatty acid plays a crucial role in skincare formulations due to its emollient and moisturizing properties.

In cosmetic applications, oleic acid functions as an effective skin penetration enhancer, facilitating the absorption of other active ingredients. It helps to maintain skin barrier function by mimicking the lipids naturally present in the stratum corneum. This fatty acid also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, potentially benefiting conditions like atopic dermatitis.

Oleic acid's molecular structure allows it to integrate seamlessly into skin cell membranes, improving overall skin texture and suppleness. It aids in regulating sebum production, making it suitable for various skin types, including dry and mature skin.
