Description

Octisalate, also known as ethylhexyl salicylate, is an organic compound widely used in sunscreen formulations as a UVB filter. This oil-soluble ingredient effectively absorbs ultraviolet radiation in the 280-320 nm range, helping to protect the skin from harmful sun damage. Octisalate's chemical structure allows it to remain stable when exposed to sunlight, making it a reliable choice for photostable sunscreen products.

In addition to its UV-filtering properties, octisalate exhibits emollient characteristics, contributing to the smooth texture and spreadability of skincare formulations. It is often combined with other UV filters to achieve broad-spectrum protection and enhance the overall sun protection factor (SPF) of a product.
