NORTAFLUPROST

Description

Nortafluprost is a synthetic prostaglandin analog that has gained attention in the field of hair care for its potential to stimulate hair growth and improve hair density. This compound is structurally similar to prostaglandin F2α, a naturally occurring lipid in the body known to influence hair follicle function. Nortafluprost works by extending the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle and promoting the transition of telogen (resting) follicles to the anagen phase.

Clinical studies have shown that topical application of nortafluprost can increase hair density and thickness, particularly in individuals with androgenetic alopecia. The ingredient is typically formulated in low concentrations, ranging from 0.1% to 0.3%, in serums or lotions for daily use. Nortafluprost is lipophilic, allowing for efficient penetration through the scalp and into the hair follicles.

Side effects are generally mild and may include temporary scalp itching or redness. Long-term safety data is still being gathered, but initial reports suggest a favorable safety profile. As with any prostaglandin analog, it is important to avoid eye contact and use caution in patients with a history of ocular conditions.
