NARIRUTIN
Description
Narirutin is a flavonoid compound primarily found in citrus fruits, particularly in grapefruits and oranges. This bioactive molecule belongs to the flavanone subclass of flavonoids and is structurally similar to naringin, another well-known citrus flavonoid. Narirutin has gained attention in skincare formulations due to its potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and photoprotective properties.
In topical applications, narirutin has demonstrated the ability to scavenge free radicals and reduce oxidative stress in skin cells. This antioxidant activity may help protect the skin from environmental damage and premature aging. Studies have also shown that narirutin possesses anti-inflammatory effects, which could be beneficial in managing skin conditions characterized by inflammation.
Furthermore, narirutin has exhibited potential in enhancing skin barrier function and improving hydration levels. Its molecular structure allows for moderate penetration into the skin, potentially delivering its benefits to deeper layers. Some research suggests that narirutin may also have mild tyrosinase-inhibiting properties, indicating a possible role in managing hyperpigmentation.
When formulating with narirutin, it is typically used in concentrations ranging from 0.1% to 1% in skincare products. It is generally stable in formulations with a pH between 4 and 7.
