N,N-Diethyltoluene-2,5-diamine HCl is a synthetic hair dye precursor widely used in permanent and semi-permanent hair coloring products. This compound belongs to the para-phenylenediamine (PPD) family and acts as an oxidative dye when combined with a developer. It is particularly effective in producing dark brown to black shades and offers excellent gray coverage.

The chemical structure of N,N-Diethyltoluene-2,5-diamine HCl allows it to penetrate the hair shaft and react with hydrogen peroxide, forming larger color molecules that remain trapped within the cortex.
