Description

Myristamidopropalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound widely used in personal care and cosmetic products. This synthetic ingredient functions primarily as a conditioning agent and antimicrobial preservative. Its molecular structure consists of a long-chain fatty acid (myristic acid) combined with a cationic quaternary ammonium group, giving it both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties.

In skincare formulations, myristamidopropalkonium chloride acts as an effective emulsifier and stabilizer, helping to blend oil and water-based components. It also provides a smooth, silky feel to products, enhancing their tactile properties. The ingredient's positive charge allows it to adhere to negatively charged hair and skin surfaces, imparting a conditioning effect.
