MORTIERELLA GLYCERIDES

Description

Mortierella glycerides are a novel class of lipid-based ingredients derived from the fermentation of Mortierella fungi. These unique compounds have gained attention in the skincare industry for their potential moisturizing and skin-barrier enhancing properties. The glycerides are primarily composed of triglycerides, diglycerides, and monoglycerides, with a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly arachidonic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid.

The production of Mortierella glycerides involves a controlled fermentation process, followed by extraction and purification. This results in a stable, odorless, and colorless ingredient suitable for various cosmetic formulations. The molecular structure of these glycerides allows for excellent skin compatibility and enhanced penetration into the stratum corneum.

Clinical studies have demonstrated that Mortierella glycerides can improve skin hydration, reduce transepidermal water loss, and strengthen the skin barrier function. Additionally, these compounds exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, potentially benefiting individuals with sensitive or compromised skin. The ingredient's ability to support lipid synthesis in the skin makes it particularly valuable for addressing age-related skin concerns and maintaining overall skin health.
